Ukraine aiming to double grain output

Although some analysts say its goals are too bold, the Ukrainian government is standing by its claim that the country is going to nearly double its grain production by 2020. Agricultural Minister Alexei Pavlenko recently forecast that Ukraine expects to increase grain output to 100 million tonnes by 2020, up from 60.2 million tonnes in 2015, with exports rising to 70 million tonnes from 31.6 million tonnes during that period.

Russian poultry processor to produce L-threonine

Russian poultry processer, Prioskolie, is to invest RUB 4.9 billion (US$64 million) into commissioning a line for the production of feed L-threonine, targeting a capacity of at least 12,000 tonnes.
Prioskolie already runs a large project for the production of feed lysine with a capacity of 57,000 tonnes per year. The line for L-threonine production will be launched at the same plant in Belgorod Oblast.

The FAO Food Price Index averaged 165.6 points in August, up 1.9% from July and almost 7% from a year earlier.
