Due to the strengthening of the exchange rates of the national currency, in March 2010, the short-received income of Russian grain exports totaled 1.35 bln RUB, declared the media department of CJSC Rusagrotrans. In March 2010, grain exports from Russia totaled 1.65 mln tonnes of grains, which demonstrated the growth of 3% compared to the level of February 2010. At the same time, the export volumes decreased compared to grain export volumes in March 2009 (2.16 mln tonnes). As a reminder, during eight months of the current MY (from July 2009 to February 2010), the market showed the continuation of the stable tendency of Russian grain export volumes compared to the same period of 2008/09 MY. The average decrease of the general export volumes of Russian grains did not exceed the level of 2%, at the same time, the general world reduction of grain export rates reached the following indices: in the USA - 24%, the EU-27 - 18%, Ukraine - 7%.

The essential strengthening of the exchange rates of the national currency and the reduction of the world prices for grains became the main reasons of the decrease of grain export rates in March 2010. According to the media department of CJSC Rusagrotrans, the average price for 4-grade wheat (March 2010) FOB in Novorossiysk port totaled 164.2 USD/t. The average USD/RUB exchange rates of March 2010 totaled 29.6. The price for 4-grade wheat (March 2009) in Novorossiysk port totaled 170.5 USD/t FOB. The average USD/RUB exchange rates of March 2009 totaled 34.6. Thus, in 2009, exporter received 5899 RUB for one tonne of wheat, but in March 2010 - 4860 RUB/t. According to Oleg Rogachev, the First Deputy General Director of CJSC Rusagrotrans, in March 2010, the majority of forwarding agents, operating on the export market, lowered the cost of transportation of export grains by nearly 100-150 RUB/t, due to the unfavorable economic situation. According to O.Rogachev, at the same time, the export trading operations require the complex support, development of infrastructure, the insurance system and several other measures.
