MOSCOW, May 18 (Itar-Tass) -- Experts have forecasted that Russia's gross grain harvest in 2010 will be at the level of 2009, or at about 95-97 million tonnes.

In 2009, Russian farmers harvested 97 million tonnes of grain, an official at the Russian Agriculture Ministry reminded on Tuesday.

Specialists of the ministry consider the condition of winter crops as good and satisfactory on 88 percent of all territories under crops.

At the same time, they forecasted destruction of winter crops in an area of 2.5 million hectares. However, the ministry's experts are confident that the damage of the size could not affect significantly on the harvest as a whole.

According to the Agriculture Ministry, the biggest destruction of winter crops was reported from the republics of Chuvashia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, as well as in the Voronezh, Ulyanovsk, Belgorod and Volgograd regions.

Proceeding from regional reports, winter crops were treated in an area of 11.2 million hectares (62 percent of all territories under winter crops) as of May 17
