(c) 2010 Dow Jones & Company, Inc.
MOSCOW (Dow Jones)--Russia is likely to harvest this year 90 million metric tons of grain and not 97 million tons as was forecast earlier, the agriculture ministry said Monday.
The ministry said about 15% of winter grains had been destroyed by bad weather, resulting in winter grain harvest forecast this year going down to 42 million tons whereas the harvest last year was 46 million tons.
Spring grain harvest is forecast at about 48 million tons.
The ministry also said large amounts of grain have been left over from last year's harvest, and in order to stimulate export the government would shortly issue a decree providing for state subsidies to grain exporters.
