Russia increases grain exports 3 times

According to the data of the Bank of Russia, during January-August of 2009, the foreign trade turnover of Russia totaled 293 bln USD (56.2% to January-August of 2008), including exports - 179.1 bln USD (54.3%), imports - 114 bln USD (59.6%). Export surplus remained positive - 65.1 bln USD (in January-August period of 2008 - 138.4 bln USD), declared the Federal Service of State Statistics (Rosstat). According to the data of Rosstat, in the reporting period of 2009, grain exports from Russia totaled 13717 thsd tonnes, an increase of 3 times compared to the same period of 2008. The country exported 9771 thsd tonnes of wheat and meslin (up 2.4 times) and 2714 thsd tonnes of barley (up 6.5 times). Rapeseed exports from Russia increased by 4.7 times - to 48.5 thsd tonnes, sunflower seed - by 3.6 times and totaled 99.4 thsd tonnes. /
