Landkom International To Invest USD 10 Million In Construction Of Biofuel Factory In Lviv Region Before 2013

Landkom International, a producer of oil-bearing and grain crops in Ukraine, has plans to invest USD 10 million in the construction of a biofuel factory in Busk district, Lviv region, by the end of 2012.

Serhii Datsenko, the head of the bio-energy department of the company, announced this at the Second international conference "Effective Management of Large-Sized Agrarian Companies."

He said the company intends to commission the biofuel factory in 2012. The payback period is estimated at close to 4 years, according to him.

Raw material for the biofuel at the factory will be production residue of rapeseed, maize, and sunflower seeds.

Economies of the company within 50 kilometers from the factory will supply the raw materials to the factory.

Serhii Datsenko noted that the company has rapeseed crops on close to 14,000 hectares.

The biomass for processing is calculated depending on crop capacity of a culture on the coefficient of 0.9.

Datsenko told the press the company will export the production of the factory.

Also, the company eyes an option of construction of a factory to process wastes of elevators to produce bio-gas.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Landkom International plc is registered on the Isle of Man, but it is a Ukrainian producer of agricultural products, including rapeseed, wheat, barley, corn, and soy, which it sells through grain traders on the markets for food and bio-fuels.
