The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has at the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers met with the Netherlands delegation, led by the Netherlands Economy Ministry director general for foreign economic relations Marten van den Bergh and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Netherlands to Russia Ron Keller. The meeting resulted in signing a memorandum of understanding between the government of Tatarstan and DSM Eastern Europe. Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov told journalists the meeting was the next stage in the beneficial cooperation between Tatarstan and the Netherlands. "In 2009-2010, Tatarstan built a unique premix production complex, one of the main components of the livestock industry. The republic plans to supply the essential high-technology product to other countries," he said. Tatarstan and DSM, the world's leader in the area, are developing partner relations.

Trust from foreign partners has allowed bringing into the republic about ten firms who intend to closely cooperate with local companies, the premier noted. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Netherlands to Russia Ron Keller added DSM had found a good partner in Tatarstan, since the republic has a transparent investment climate. "The possibilities for cooperation are inexhaustible. Dutch companies have discovered new prospects for themselves in Tatarstan," the guest enhanced. The Netherlands business delegation is on a visit to Tatarstan on October 4-5. The delegation includes about 30 companies specialised in chemistry, machine building, water resource management technologies, banking, energy saving, medical equipment and environmental protection. Within the visit, the delegation is today to attend the opening of the Russia's first plant producing and processing nutritional additives for animal feed in Naberezhnye Chelny. The Netherlands and Tatarstan businessmen yesterday at the Korston centre held direct meetings and toured the IT park. Today, the guests are to tour the premix plant, a joint venture of DSM and Tatenergo. The delegation will later visit Yelaz, the special economic zone Alabuga and Sollers Alabuga. In 2009, sales between Tatarstan and the Netherlands were $979.1 mln. The Kingdom of the Netherlands ranked 4th among the Tatarstan's trading partners in terms of external commodity turnover. In the first half of 2010, the bilateral trade totalled $959.4 mln, having versus the same period of 2009 increased 3.4-fold. Exports totalled $947.1 mln, imports $12.3 mln. The shares of export and import were 98.7 and 1.3 percent respectively. The most promising areas for cooperation are expanding the supplies to the Netherlands of Tatarstan-made petrochemical and machine building products, increasing contacts in the investment and innovative-industrial branch, high technologies (Alabuga and technoparks), small business; expanding cooperation with Philips (medicine, electronics), DSM (agriculture, biotechnologies) and ING (banking). Further cooperation is planned in ship building and auto making, manufacturing electro technical and medical products, pharmaceuticals, as well as expanding cooperation in agriculture. / Tatar-inform
